During this period, the Self-Service Canteen and Members’ Restaurant were closed. This is set to also take place during Summer Recess 2024. The works involve the complete replacement of electrical wiring, water and gas piping, and the replacement of flooring, some equipment, and replacement of electrical plant work. These works are necessary to ensure continued compliance with food safety standards, and improved workflows for staff within the kitchen. They will also ensure an improved service for all customers of the catering facilities, and enhanced working conditions. The first phase of remedial works in the kitchen has been completed, and all kitchens were open as of 06 October 2023."

Under the FOI Act 2014, I am seeking a copy of your organisation's policy regarding the payment of 'ordinary remuneration' to staff while suspended pending the conclusion of disciplinary processes. I am particularly interested in your organisation's policy regarding payment of staff on suspension, as follows: Is remuneration paid to staff who are suspended, i.e., is there a continuation of full salary or is their salary reduced? If paid full salary, does this include allowances? If reduced, does your Department exclude any/all allowances that are normally paid? If so, What type of allowances do you continue to pay, and which allowances cease? Where staff whose allowances were stopped during suspension, and they subsequently are cleared of all allegations of misconduct are allowances repaid to staff? In addition to the above, I would appreciate it if you could let me know the number of people suspended, pending the conclusion of disciplinary processes, by your organisation in each year 2020 to 2023 and details as to whether all such individuals received their normal pay, including allowances, during the period of suspension.
