St. Vincents University Hospital 1) Number of patients treated by the Orthopaedic Department where that treatment necessitated that a lower limb be placed in a cast. (2) The number of those patients in (1) above who subsequently presented with a DVT. (3) The number of patients identified in either (1) and/or (2) above who subsequently developed a Pulmonary Embolism. (4) The number of patients identified in (3) above who died from complications arising from a Pulmonary Embolism (5) The number of patients not included in categories (1), (2), (3), (4) above who were treated for a Pulmonary Embolism.
