In September and October 2025, a Public Consultation on National Territory Mapping for Renewable Electricity took place. The submission period closed on 17th October 2025. The purpose as outlined was to gather public and stakeholder feedback on the National Territory Mapping for Renewable Electricity, a requirement under the EU Renewable Energy Directive 2023/2413. (RED III). requiring EU Member States to carry out "national territory mapping" (under Article 15b), to identify the domestic potential and the available areas needed to install renewable energy plants and their related infrastructure. https://www.gov.ie/en/department-of-climate-energy-and-the-environment/consultations/public- consultation-on-national-territory-mapping-for-renewable-electricity/ Under the European Communities (Access to Information on the Environment) Regulations 2007– 2018., I am requesting the following records: 1. Copies of all submissions received during the consultation period. 2. A schedule, register, database or index of all submissions received, including the name of the submitting individual or organisation (where releasable), date received and any reference number assigned. 3. Any consultation report, summary report, analysis report, briefing note or presentation prepared regarding the submissions received. In addition, I request access to any records concerning the Department's proposed next steps following the Public Consultation on National Territory Mapping for Renewable Electricity, including but not limited to 1. Any records relating to the designation of Renewable Acceleration Areas (RAAs), including proposed locations, criteria 2. Any records setting out future public consultation 3. Any correspondence between the Department and Local Authorities, regarding the next steps to be taken following the consultation last year I request that all records be provided in their original electronic format. For the avoidance of doubt, electronic records includes; emails, attachments, spreadsheets, databases, GIS files, mapping layers, presentations, briefing materials, draft documents and final documents held by the Department in connection with this matter.
