Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine My request relates to an incident involving an Irish authorised Type 2 Transporter at Harwich Port, UK. It is my understanding that on or about September 22, 2019 a transporter was stopped at Harwich as it was preparing to board a from Harwich. The transporter was an Irish registered transporter, the operator was trading under a business name. Based on information from the authorities here, we understand the incident involved unnamed Irish transporters who trading in the movement of horses from Ireland and England to the Netherlands and Belgium. They were authorised Type 2 transporters, with documentation from Ireland. My research indicates there were in excess of 18 horses on the vehicle. Information gathered suggests when detained, officers discovered at least 10 horses were travelling on false passports. I understand as a result of this incident it led to the suspension of the Type 2 authorisations for two transporters. I seek any information held by the Department about this incident, including any report from UK authorities on which the Department acted. If any of the details I supplied are slightly incorrect but substantively correct could you please advise me and I can correct and resubmit my query. I do not require any personal information or information which may identify a person, this means I do not require the authorisation number, registration number, name or address of the parties involved. I just want details of the incident, including any details of follow up inquiries related to the passports used at Rosslare.
