My query relates to the use of glyphosate as a pre-harvest desiccant on food crops, particularly cereals and rapeseed, in Ireland. Are there any legal restrictions on its use, if so what are they? For instance I believe that its use is prohibited on malting barley but permitted on other cereals, is this the case? Are there any other restrictions? Does DAFM (or any other Government department or body) compile or keep records of its use in order to establish how widespread the practice is? if so, what are the statistics? How much has its use increased over time?
