Under the Freedom of Information Act 2014, I request access to records held by your Department relating to the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools, including but not limited to ChatGPT and other generative AI systems. To minimise cost and processing burden, this request is limited strictly to the period 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2025. Specifically, I request all records and communications relating to the use of AI and generative AI tools, including but not limited to: 1. Internal and external communications (including emails, instant messages, memoranda, meeting notes, briefings, and media or press lines) relating to: o The use of ChatGPT or other AI tools o AI use by Departments, agencies, or other public bodies o Use of AI tools on government-issued devices o Use of AI tools during the course of official duties by Ministers, Ministers of State, special advisers, civil servants, or contractors 2. Policies, guidance, circulars, instructions, or advice issued to staff regarding the use of AI or generative AI tools. 3. Records relating to procurement, contracts, licences, pilots, trials, evaluations, or approvals involving AI or generative AI tools. 4. Risk assessments, data protection impact assessments (DPIAs), ethical reviews, or assurance documents concerning AI use. 5. Briefings, submissions, or reports prepared for Ministers, senior management, or Government relating to the use of AI or generative AI tools. I am happy to receive the records in electronic format. If access to any record or part of a record is refused, I request that all non-exempt material be released and that the reasons for refusal and the relevant sections of the Act relied upon be clearly identified, in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2014.
