Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration The following information in relation to processing naturalisation applications by means of Section 16 of the Irish Nationality and Citizenship Act, 1956 (as amended) (1) The number of "Irish Associations" applications on hand (i.e. in the queue) and currently awaiting consideration by the LS/review team that is responsible for making a recommendation to the Minister. (2) The number of "Irish Associations" applications in active, ongoing review by the aforementioned LS/review team and where the Minister (or nominee) has yet to sign off on a final decision. (3) The number of "Irish Associations" applications reviewed and consideration completed by the LS/review team in each of the twelve months of the 2022 calendar year. (4) The number of "Irish Associations" applications that were recommended for approval by the Minister in 2022. (5) The number of "Irish Associations" applications that were recommended for refusal by the Minister in 2022. (6) The average time, in weeks, between "Irish Associations" applications entering review (by the LS team) and a final decision being made by the Minister or nominee, for applications concluded in 2022. (7) The number of cases in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 where the Minister for Justice or Minister of State (Department of Justice) has himself or herself, rather than a Civil Service nominee, personally signed off on an “Irish Associations” application decision.
