Last November and December three deceased bulls washed up on beaches in France, following the passage of a livestock vessel, Sarah M, that had to anchor in a French bay for three days due to a storm. I understand that DAFM undertook an investigation to determine if the bulls originated from the Sarah M and were of Irish origin. Could I please have a copy of all documentation relating to this investigation including emails, reports and phone conversations between the Irish and French authorities and the owner and captain of the Sarah M. If any DNA testing was conducted could I please have a copy of the reports. If there was no DNA testing what steps did DAFM take to determine whether the bulls were from Ireland or not? The breeds looked like Holsteins, which are common in Ireland.
