The requester sought access to records relating to the use of animals in research, testing, or education by the University for the period from 2016 to 2025. Specifically, the requester sought: • records detailing the species of animals used (including typical laboratory animals such as rats, mice, rabbits, or similar), broken down by year; • records showing the overall cost associated with each type of animal and the overall spend on animals for each year within the period; • records detailing the number of animals euthanised for the purposes of, or following, testing, teaching, or experimentation; and • copies of any emails or correspondence sent to the University Provost relating to the ethics of animal testing or the use of animals in research.
