I would like to make a request under the freedom of information act 2014. The request pertains to reports, correspondence or documents sent between the department, minister and companies/representatives including Meta, Google, Microsoft and Ibec regarding digital advertising and the EU’s proposed digital fairness act in the period 1 January 2025 to the present day, 1 July. The lobby register shows a number of emails were sent and meetings were arranged between Meta and several government departments, including DETE officials/Minister Burke, between 1 January and 30 April 2025 to discuss the issue of personalised advertisements and the EU’s investigation of Meta under the Digital Markets Act. I would like to obtain these specific records. The lobby register also shows a letter from Technology Ireland was sent to the department in the same period requesting a Senior Official be appointed with responsibility for coordinating digital advertising policy. I would also like to obtain this letter in particular.
