Department of Transport In accordance with FoI legislation I am requesting the information detailed below relating to the approval by the then Minister Varadkar of the Irish Aviation Authority Staff Superannuation (Amendment) Scheme on 7 February 2012.Schedule of information requested: (1) the memorandum and all other information provided to the then Minister when seeking his approval for the amendment;(2) the criteria used and reasons justifying seeking the Minister's approval;(3) copies of all documentation provided to DTTAS by the IAA explaining that the IAA Pension Plan, a distinct legal entity separate in every respect from the IAA and managed by independent Trustees, was established to provide retirement benefits to its members: that the Plan Trustees are responsible, in consultation with the scheme actuary, for determining pension costs in accordance with the legally binding EUROCONTROL Charging Principles, determined by the Transport Ministers of the EUROCONTROL Member States, and for ensuring the determined costs are recovered on behalf of the State through the EUROCONTROL commom charging system and received by the Plan: that, as formally advised to the Pensions Regulatorby the IAA, there is no IAA guarantee of the funding of the IAA Pension Plan enforceable in law;(4) copies of all correspondence and reports of all meetings between DTTAS and the Trustees of the IAA Pension Plan.
