On the 14th of December 2022, Minister Jack Chambers, the then Minister responsible for sport, stated in Seanad Éireann that he had written to Sebastian Coe, President of World Athletics, informing him of the Irish Government's position regarding seeking a derogation from World Athletics' 1934 political boundary rule for the Island of Ireland. I am requesting the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport, and Media to provide me with a copy of Minister Chambers' letter to President Coe, as well as a copy of President Coe's reply to Minister Chambers.
