Requester Type I attach a letter received by me from the Minister of State with responsibility for Financial Services, Credit Unions and Insurance, Neale Richmond TD on 28 May 2024. This correspondence was on the subject of thatch insurance and the problems of obtaining it. In the last paragraph of Page 1 of this letter, the Minister makes the following statement. "She outlined that the Government has not said that Solvency II is preventing interventions in the market, but rather that the interventions proposed would not have the desired effect." I would like to request any and all documents, reports, calculations or analysis, correspondence, emails, memoranda, file notes or records of any kind related to the "interventions proposed" which the Minister and department studied and considered in order to reach the stated conclusion that they would not have the "desired effect". I would also like to receive any documentation which defines "desired effect" and what that outcome means as far as the Minister / Department of Finance is concerned.
