Delivery Team

In Year Two of delivering the SMP (April 2023- 2024), the governance structures established in the first year continued to provide an effective means for scrutinising overall implementation.

including the Strategic Approach to Public Engagement on Climate Action and Sustainable Mobility and Moving Together: A Strategic Approach to the Improved Efficiency of the Transport System in Ireland. In addition, in its role as the Taskforce with responsibility for overseeing the delivery of cross-cutting actions related to transport in the Climate Action Plans, the LG provided input into the development of the Transport Chapter of Climate Action Plan 2024 (CAP24).

The Leadership Group (LG) is comprised of high-level representatives from the National Transport Authority (NTA), Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), the regional assemblies (SRA, NWRA, and EMRA), City and County Management Association (CCMA), Department of Housing, Local Government, and Heritage (DHLGH), Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications (DECC), Road Safety Authority (RSA), Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI), as well as several divisions of the Department of Transport. This group continued to meet on a quarterly basis during the second year of implementation, considering challenges to the delivery of specific actions where needed.

The SMP Delivery Team (DT), which consists of representatives from the LG’s own organisations as well as broader representation when required, continued to interrogate the delivery of the SMP and Pathfinder Programme at a more granular level. The DT met on a monthly basis throughout Year 2, monitoring progress on the implementation of the various pathfinders, considering any risks and/or mitigations required to facilitate timely delivery and escalating issues - where necessary - to the LG.

The LG contributed on an ongoing basis to the development of SMP-related measures
