Measuring Performance

The Government Road Safety Strategy 2021-2030 developed 15 Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs) in line with EU best practice. These are aligned to the overall 2030 and 2050 targets for fatalities and serious injuries. These SPIs are evidenced based and track specific factors known to influence death and serious injury, such as the non-wearing of seat belts and speed.

The following table is a summary of Ireland’s SPI status, based on latest available data and analysis prior to the publication of the Phase 2 Action Plan 2025-2027.
