1.1.7 Public Sector Leadership

Climate Action and Low Carbon Development (Amendment) Act 202123. These will include both mitigation and adaptation measures and will be updated every five years. Local Authority Development Plans must be aligned with their Climate Action Plans.

The public sector will lead by example in meeting EV targets under the CAP by promoting the delivery of EV charging infrastructure through Green Public Procurement, through climate mandates (underpinned by national public sector energy-efficiency obligations)21, and through the recast Clean Vehicles Directive, which was transposed into Irish law in 202122. A Public Procurement Framework for charging infrastructure for public sector fleets will also be developed.
