a Note The current search and rescue (SAR) helicopter service contract with CHC Ireland commenced on 1 July 2012 for a period of ten years, to June 2022. An option to extend the contract for up to a further three years was availed of, and the contract was extended to June 2025 to facilitate the procurement of a new service in accordance with Public Spending Code requirements and a seamless transition from one service to another. In August 2023, the Department signed a new service contract with Bristow Ireland Limited (BIL). The new SAR contract will run for ten years, with options to extend out to 13 years (2036). The initial 10-year term will cost approximately €670 million (excluding VAT) in nominal terms, inclusive of price increases assumed to be 2% a year, linked to the CPI. Any extensions beyond the initial contract term will be at discretion of the Minister for Transport having regard to a range of strategic, economic, and operational considerations in the years to come. b Public service obligation (PSO) for air services between Donegal and Dublin. c New contracts awarded for the supply of motor tax discs, IT support and development. d Willis Tower Watson insurance premiums commitment. e Provision of services to support the development, support and maintenance of a new Road Transport Operator Licencing IT (RTOL) system. f Contract awarded to Ove Arup and Partners Ireland Limited for an all- Island strategic rail review.
