2.10 Looking forward

Building on the learning from COVID-19

■We need to ensure that the Inspectorate continues to respond with agility to the changing contexts of

schools and settings, particularly in light of the impact of COVID-19.

■We need to place additional emphasis on themes/areas of enquiry in our inspection models, such as

wellbeing, anti-bullying and language development, particularly in light of the COVID-19 experience.

Increasing our impact

■To ensure that our work is conducted to the highest professional standards, we should expand

the ways in which we quality assure it.

■To maximise the impact of inspections, we should keep our risk-based approach to inspection

under review.

■There is scope for us to further refine how we support schools/early learning and care settings

that are struggling in significant ways.
