The Public Sector Duty
The UNESCO Chair (ITT), TVG, NTP, Pavee Point, SPMHS and Tusla called for the SoS to be underpinned by principles and values which build on the State’s human rights and equality legislation, specifically noting the Public Sector Equality and Human Rights Duty in this regard. TVG suggested that the Department should aim “to embed the culture of the Public Sector Duty within the relevant state agencies it engages with”. SPMHS recommended emphasising “the role
and relevance of the Duty in considering equality and human rights impacts” associated with the pandemic response and recovery.
