That Meath County Council review traffic management measures on the R154 through Batterstown due to ongoing safety concerns, particularly for children accessing Rathregan National School, where heavy goods vehicles and school traffic and pedestrians share the same route. While the recently installed ramp is welcome, many residents and parents of school going children believe that it is not sufficient. There is currently no definite timeline for the long awaited traffic calming grant, and we cannot simply wait while safety concerns persist. In the absence of confirmed funding, the Council should use its own available resources to implement further interim measures, including enhanced road markings, additional ramps or speed tables, and improved signage, to enhance safety in the area pending delivery of the full scheme.
