For the period since the introduction of a scheme in June 2018 which allows asylum seekers to obtain a work permit after waiting more than nine months from their first asylum application, I am trying to find out how many permits were issued, for what nationalities and what sectors employ those with work permits. I am also interested to know if the meat processing sector employs a disproportionate number of asylum seekers and if they are employed directly by businesses or if they are employment by employment agencies acting on behalf of businesses.
