I wish to request information under the Freedom of Information Act. Please provide a full breakdown of projected and current spend on the Tokyo Ireland House project under the remit of Department of Foreign Affairs, which has been described as ‘the largest single capital investment abroad by the Government of Ireland since the foundation of the State’. Please include the following: - Cost of purchase of land in Tokyo - Estimated cost of construction – including a breakdown of costs for labour/material. - Final cost of construction - including a breakdown of costs for labour/material. - Estimated cost of architectural services - Final cost of architectural services (named) – please include a breakdown of costs. - Any rental costs associated with Ireland House Tokyo? Please also provide additional or unforeseen costs that were required: - i.e. in November 2023 under a Supplementary Estimate a further €5.7m was requested by the Department for ‘non-pay administration costs’. ‘This funding will support the fit-out of existing and new properties overseas, including new Ireland House premises’. Please outline how much of this related to the Tokyo Ireland House project? - And in November 2024 a further €19m was requested which would ‘support the fit-out of existing and new properties overseas, including new Ireland House premises, as well as higher than anticipated rental, maintenance and energy costs at our properties overseas.’ Please outline how much of this related to the Tokyo Ireland House project?
